We are a globally experienced and diverse team that makes a conscious effort every day to challenge our own perceptions and unpack the realities around us.
We integrate this approach in our work through intersectional feminism, decoloniality, localisation and well-being methodologies tailored to the stakeholders and the context.
We consider local actors and/or beneficiaries ethnographers of their own conditions and prioritise their participation and input into the process to ensure it is meaningful, avoids replaying traditional power dynamics and speaks to the local realities of the places where our clients’ programmes are implemented.
We collaborate with local actors who provide input on their own impact indicators. We are action research-oriented and disrupt the over-reliance on quantitative data to include qualitative data collection methods such as participatory observation, forum theatres and storytelling.
We call out racist behaviours even when they come from clients and state this in our contracts as a reason for termination.
We are working with several partners, including Matahari Global Solutions to drive discussions on everyday practices of racism in the field of consultancy, particularly that which is perpetrated by multilateral institutions.
When conducting evaluations, we strive to identify power inequalities and shine a light on marginalised groups such as women, understanding their experiences may be different to men, and including them as participants who speak for and represent themselves.
We apply an intersectionality lens to observe the multiple and often conflicting identities of people and factors that impact the experience of programmes, such as socio-economic level, education, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, race and religion, to provide robust foundations for the development of more inclusive and effective solutions.
We value the wellbeing of people and emphasise this in our work. Not only does it create healthier organisations and more impactful strategies, it provides better outcomes for the people who transform them into reality. Wellbeing is a core value at ODS and we prioritise it through check-ins to manage workload and emphasising the responsibility of teams rather than individuals.
Organisational Development Support (ODS) empowers civil society organisations through tailored advisory, consulting and practical, actionable tools that help them understand themselves better, improve their strategic capabilities and achieve greater societal impact.
