What

we do

We help non-profit organisations transform their perspectives by fostering a supportive learning environment and providing deep insight into the internal and external realities they face. We are a critical constructive friend that will encourage yet challenge our clients to push their boundaries, see differently and achieve lasting, meaningful change.

Deepening impact

THROUGH MONITORING, EVALUATION & LEARNING

Our team takes an inclusive and decolonised approach.

Learning is the key feature of our M.E.L. practice. We design participatory processes, based on feminist principles, that are inclusive and decolonised to make a meaningful difference amidst shifting realities on the ground.

We apply qualitative and mixed methods to capture impact and narratives of change, from outcomes harvesting to forum theatres and participatory observations. We build M.E.L. frameworks, frameworks for learnings, and conduct baseline, midline and endline assessments. We also collaborate in M.E.L. partnerships which involve framework design and evaluation.

GATHERING FRESH PERSPECTIVES

THROUGH RESEARCH

Our team includes expert researchers.

ODS shines a light on the realities inside and outside an organisation by zooming into new areas, exploring key challenges and developing a deeper understanding of the organisation’s impact and its stakeholders.

Our research work is focused on simultaneously gaining new understandings of, and improving, practice. Our team is experienced in qualitative and quantitative methods and have substantive academic and practical research design and analysis experience. We use methods such as surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, forum theatres and participatory observations. We adapt our ethical research framework and approach to each context and project, providing valuable insight into our clients’ work and specific challenges.

ALIGNING STRATEGY

WITH VALUES

Our team values participation and co-creation.

We support organisations to assess and articulate their strategies and take a participative approach to helping them think through longer-term objectives and plan for resilient programming.

This work underpins the development of coherent, inspiring and relevant strategic plans that respond to global social and economic changes and a challenging funding environment. Our work also ensures donors and beneficiaries see the organisation is living up to its mission and vision, communicating effectively, and aware of the risks they face.

Our understanding of our client’s needs is rooted in careful analysis and an awareness of the socio-cultural context of their work.

Strengthening

ORGANISATIONAL CAPACITY

Our team includes skilled training and workshop facilitators.

Training sessions and workshops can enhance organisational capacity to align values with practice, improving internal team dynamics and external programming effectiveness. We support organisations to strengthen their practice through learning in a variety of areas, from leadership and conflict management to well-being, Theory of Change and network development.

ODS strives to learn and experiment using alternative methodologies that bring us closer to our working principles and values. This includes methodologies that shift power imbalances and surface hidden narratives such as forum theatres and most significant change workshops.

Deepening impact

through learning

Our team includes experienced training and workshop facilitators.

Our MEL practice focuses on learning rather than accountability, ensuring we design participatory processes that are inclusive and localised.

We apply qualitative and mixed methods with a focus on capturing impact and narratives of change. We build MEL frameworks and frameworks for learnings and conduct baseline, midline and endline assessments. We also take part in MEL partnerships which involve both framework design and evaluation.

Gathering insights

on your work & challenges

Our team includes expert researchers.

Data is key to getting a better grasp of the reality within and outside organisations, but it is often costly to get and analyse.

ODS can offer non-profit initiatives fresh perspectives to zoom into new areas, explore particular challenges or get a deeper understanding of their impact and stakeholders. Our team includes expert researchers in both qualitative and quantitative methods with a substantive academic and practical research design and analysis experience.

Operationalising & implementing

your values

We support organisations in assessing and articulating their strategies.

Global social and economic changes and a challenging funding environment mean that non-profit organisations need coherent, inspiring and relevant strategic plans more than ever.

Supporters, donors and beneficiaries want to know if they are living up to their mission and vision, if they are appropriately communicating their messages, and if they are fully aware of the risks they face.

We support organisations in assessing and articulating their strategies. Our understanding of our client’s needs is rooted in careful analysis and an awareness of the socio-cultural context of their work. We work together with our clients in participative processes to help them think through longer-term objectives and plan for resilient programming.

Strengthening

your practice

Our team includes experienced training and workshop facilitators.

Training and workshops can build the organisational capacity to align the values with the practice, both in terms of internal team functioning, as well as external programming and work.

From leadership to conflict management, from Theory of Change to network development. In our work, we strive to learn and experiment with alternative methodologies that bring us closer to our working principles and values. This includes methodologies that shift power imbalances and surface hidden narratives such as forum theatres and most significant change workshops. Our team includes experienced training and workshop facilitators.

Working with ODS we learned so much by working with them, and we are now a stronger, more reflective team for it.
